Missions Ministry

We maintain a strong Missions commitment based on Christ's command to go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel.  A significant portion of our budget is allocated to mission activity, and many opportunities are provided for members to serve throughout our city, across the country and around
the world.

Current Mission Projects

Sheridan Women’s Shelter

Mae John Swaty and Women's Fellowship Sunday School classes provide baskets with hygiene products for women and children living at the Sheridan Women's Shelter. They also provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for the shelter.

Prayer

The prayer team consistently and corporately prays for the support and success of each ongoing  mission project.

Women’s Shelter

Mae John Swaty and Women's Fellowship Sunday School classes provide baskets with hygiene products for women and children living at the Sheridan Women's Shelter. They also provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for the shelter.

Angel Tree

The Women's Ministry sponsors the Angel Tree Ministry, which places a Christmas tree in the church foyer at Christmastime. This tree is decorated with empty envelopes and as a team, we pray for God to lay on our hearts the needs of those in our church or community. The money placed in these envelopes is given to needy families or individuals in the community for Christmas gifts or other essential needs. The Angel Tree project is not only about monetary contributions, but also helps us to share the love of Christ with those who need it.

Trunk-n-Treat

Trunk-n-Treat provides fun and games on Halloween for the children of Sheridan and the surrounding area. This ministry is sponsored by the FBC Youth.   For adults, participation in the games and supplying "trunks" and "treats" are a way of being involved.

 Yard Work for the Elderly

For those who need help with their yards, leaves are raked and grass is mowed by request.

Mission Sheridan

One week during the summer, the FBC members provide services to the people of Sheridan. We do this by washing vehicle windows, giving away snow cones, and delivering cookies to businesses in downtown Sheridan.

Men’s Ministry

Men's Fraternity meets each Wednesday evening for a comprehensive Bible study. These meetings are open to all men of the community.   Support this mission by attending and inviting others to attend.

The Deacon's Ministry

This ministry provides needed services to the community such as yard work and home repair.  Volunteers are welcome.

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)

Mothers of Preschoolers gather for inspiration and companionship on the third Wednesday of each month. Adults are needed to assist in caring for the children while the mothers meet.

Women's Bible Studies

These studies teach and encourage women to grow in their relationship to God, equip them for God's purpose, and they help build relationships with Christian friends. Leaders and childcare workers are two ways to support this ministry.

Annual Fall Retreat

This annual retreat is to draw women of our community into a closer relationship to God and to prepare them to be on mission. Men and women are needed to prepare and serve meals, and for childcare.

Hats for Homeless

During the winter months, warm caps and other items are collected to distribute to those in need. You can be a part of this ministry by your donations

Arkansas Disaster Relief

This ministry involves teams of Christians who give of their time to minister to people in times of disaster. Helping to feed the hungry or being part of a chainsaw team are just two examples of how you can serve in this area.

Guerrero Mexico Mission Trip

Being involved in the Mexico Mission Trip involves participating in ministering to the people of Guerrero by going, praying, and/or giving. This ministry needs the support of people who are willing to use what gifts God has given them. The building of homes, Vacation Bible School, free medical care and youth sports are just a few of the ways to serve.

The Refuge Student Ministry supports a young boy from Uganda through their giving and their praying.
