Children's Ministry
Our children's ministry environment, provides an exciting and fun-filled home for all of our children’s programs. Our goal is to allow kids to worship and experience God for who He is and for them to share that experience with those around them
Children matter to God.
All children are special to God and need to be accepted and loved at all times. Jesus set the example, and we are clearly called to model and communicate God's love to them.
Children need a Biblical foundation.
Entering into a relationship with Jesus Christ is a process-oriented experience. We want to lay a spiritual foundation of understanding so that when the Holy Spirit begins to move in the heart of a child, he or she will be prepared to make an informed decision about accepting Jesus Christ as personal Savior.
Children need loving relationships.
We want children to build meaningful relationships with their peers and the adults around them so that spiritual information is communicated in a loving and caring way.
Children need age-appropriate application.
We are dedicated to presenting the message of Jesus Christ in relevant, age-specific ways so that the principles of God's Word can be applied to their daily lives.
Children need creativity and fun.
God created children with creative imaginations, a variety of learning styles and a desire to have fun. We want to present the truth of God's Word through methods that are consistent with how children are created to think and learn.

I'm a Christian Now - Discipleship Class for Kids
The Children's Ministry of First Baptist Church is committed to help each child who acknowledges Jesus Christ as their Savior to understand the importance of their decision. Because no two children are alike, we recognize the individuality of this decision by children. Children will come to a realization of their need for Jesus at different ages and depending on many factors. But once a child makes this life-changing decision we offer a four-week new Christian class designed especially for them.
I'm a Christian Now will help children understand the basics of what it means to live a Christian life.
Sessions include the following topics:
- Becoming a Christian
- Following Jesus example
- What is Church?
- How to have a quiet time
The class is led by Mrs. Fara Newkirk, Director of Children's Ministries, and is scheduled on Sunday mornings. Classes are small in size and are offered on a yearly basis.
